Rules
& Regulations for all the Students in SAIMS
A student
admitted to SAIMS shall be abided by the rules and regulations and
standing-orders for students issued by the istitution
from time to time. These orders shall deal with the discipline of the
students in the hostels, departments, institute
premises and outside. These standing orders may also deal with such other
matters as are considered necessary for the general conduct of the students,
co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students should be aware that
any rule imposed by the institute, university and Government is binding on
him/her.
CODES
OF CONDUCT, GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
1.
Regular and punctual attendance at lectures, demonstrations, practicals, clinics, internal examinations and day and
night duties in the wards is compulsory.
2.
Students whose (required attendance 75% Theory and 85% Practical / Clinical
posting) progress and conduct are not considered satisfactory will not be
allowed to appear for the examinations.
3.
Students are to equip themselves with approved instrument box, Aprons, copies
and books as approved by the Dean/Principal.
4.
Ragging is illegal. If any student is found to indulge in ragging she/he will
be suspended/ rusticated immediately without any notice. Whosoever directly
or indirectly, commits, participates in, abets or propagates ragging within
or outside the institution shall on conviction be punished as per the
provisions of law.
5.
Students are not allowed to paste posters and pamphlets in the college,
hostels and campus. They are not permitted to write slogans grafitti etc.
6.
Student must maintain strict silence in the classes / lab and must not wander
about.
7.
Students are strictly forbidden from the consumption of Alcoholic beverages,
use of firearms, weapons and abusive drugs within any part of the institution
or campus.
8. They
must not disrupt any classes.
9. They
must not form any groups / sanstha / mandals / on political / religions or linguistic grounds
without the explicit permission from the management.
10.
Students studying in college if found indulging in anti-national activities,
contrary to the provisions of Acts & Laws enforced by Govt.,
or in any activity contrary to the rules of code of conduct and discipline
will be liable to be expelled from the college without any prior notice by
the Dean/Principal.
11.
Remaining absent from the institution & hostel without prior permission
of the authority is not allowed.
12.
Students involved in common ‘OFF’ or ‘General Absence’ are
liable to heavy fine/punishment by the Dean/Principal.
13. The
students involved in “common off” or having less attendance in class shall be
expelled from the hostel/college.
14. The
students are required to move silently through the corridors without
disturbing nearby classes and practicals in
laboratories.
15.
Students must always carry identity cards in the Institute as well as outside
the Institute and produce them on demand.
16.
Student must keep the campus neat and clean, avoid dumping garbage and avoid
littering plastics/ disposables in the campus. Use dustbins.
17.
Students must compulsorily attend all national festivals like 15th
August and 26th January without fail.
18.
They must not to write on benches, walls and doors of class rooms / lab etc.
19. Nobody
should sit on the corridor walls and on the stairs of the institution.
20.
Please give way to teachers/ staff/ visitors while moving in corridors/
staircase or anywhere in the campus. They must wish and pay due complements
to their teachers & seniors.
21.
Visiting hostels during college hours is strictly probhibited
by any student.
22.
Behave in such a manner that suits a cultured “Doctor/ Medical student”.
23. The
decision of managing committee in all disputes would be final and binding on
all students.
DRESS
CODE
1. The
trousers (boys) should not have additional colors/ embroidery/ designs. Wear
decent ones only. Avoid wearing skin tight clothes. INDECENT - dressing up is
for bidden.
2.
Students can wear any color combination but with reasonable design. Avoid
T-shirts/ Poloneck shirts, etc.
3.
Girls can wear salwar kameez
or decent pair of trousers and tops. Avoid tight jeans and very short length
of tops.
MISBEHAVIOUR
1. If anybody
is found in infringement of security guards or misbehaving with the faculty
or staff of college is liable for disciplinary action.
2.
Mobile phones and other personal items such as walkmans
or cameras are not allowed in the class rooms and clinical areas.
USE
OF FACILITIES
1.
Students should observe rules and regulations of the library. Gossiping and
talking is prohibited in the library. During college and class hours library
will not be visited.
2.
Strict discipline should be maintained while inside the college bus.
3. Lab equipments should be handled with care,
students will have to pay for breakages, if any.
4.
Maintain general hygiene while in canteen. Use dustbins for wastes &
disposables. Observe timings of canteen. During college hours visiting Gym or
Canteen is not permitted.
PENALTY
AND FINES
1. For
absenting from class / lecture / demonstration / practicals
/ clinics, etc. a strict action will be taken against them - student/wards.
2. For
damages of college/ hostel / hospital property complete cost of damage caused
will be recovered from the defaulter.
3.
Littering garbage and disposable in and around the college premises and in
the campus will invite a fine of Rs 100/- from the
student offender.
4.
Writing "Graffiti” on doors / walls of the institutional buildings by
the wards and pasting posters and pamphlets etc. in the campus will invite a
penalty of Rs 1000/- from the defaulters
individually under intimation to the local guardian/ parent.
5.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages, abuse of drugs and intoxicants, smoking
cigarettes, etc., are strictly prohibited in the
campus and hostels. Offenders will be suitably punished. They may be expelled
from the hostel/ college under intimation to their parents/ local guardian.
6. No
day scholar is allowed to visit hostel out side of
visiting hours (5.00 pm to 7.00 pm and on Sundays from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm).
Defaulter students will be fined Rs.500/- when reported upon by the warden.
7.
Using the mobiles in the college premises as well as hospital is not allowed.
Confiscation of mobiles and awarding a fine of Rs.
500/- by the Dean/ Chief Warden are the measures which will be adopted to
curb the nuisance. Management will not be responsible for loss/ theft of such
items.
8.
Visiting library during college hours is prohibited, failing which Rs. 200/- fine will be imposed.
9.
Chewing pan/gutkas and smoking is for bidden inside
the campus / college & hostels.
10.
Spitting on staircase & walls etc would invite
disciplinary action and a fine of Rs. 500/- on the
defaulter student.
RULES
AND REGTULATIONS PERTAINING TO HOSTELS
General
Information and expectations
1.
Hostellers are expected to know rules and regulations pertaining to the
hostels of SAIMS and abide by the same. It is expected that the hostellers
will maintain the dignity of the institution.
2.
Hostellers will submit full details of home address, contact number and
specimen signature of local guardian along with the required declaration from
parent to guardian and local guardian.
3. Any
change in the address of the parent/guardian as well as local guardian must
be informed immediately. At the beginning of the new academic year the
hosteller will confirm that correct addresses and correct contact numbers of
parent/ guardian and local guardian are there with the hostel records.
4.
Allotment of the seats in the hostels will be made as per the policy of the
institution. If the student does not avail the offered seat within the
stipulated period they will forfeit any claim for the hostel accomodation. A student who once reserves his/her seat by
paying the fee for hostel- accomodation, will not
be eligible for refund if he/she chooses not to stay in the hostel.
5.
Every hosteller is to bring his/her own mattress, pillow, blanket and linen,
curtains, dustbin, water bucket and mug.
6. All
the hostellers including fresh entrants must be present in the hostel on the
previous evening of the beginning of the college session.
7. The hostellers
will use the campus playing field and facilities only after the college
hours.
8. The
hostellers are responible for the furniture,
fixtures and equipments provided in the room.
Hostellers are not permitted to remove the furniture or fixtures from the
room. They are also not allowed to bring additional furniture without prior
permission of the warden.
9.
Hostellers are expected to maintain their rooms, bathrooms and corridors neat
and clean. They will not write on doors, walls of the hostel. Their rooms may
be inspected and checked by the warden at any time.
10. Evey hosteller must take care to switch off the lights
and fan when leaving the room. Similarly, he will take care to close the taps
to avoid any undue water wastage. It is expected that he/she imbibes the
habit of conserving electricity and water in the greater interest of the
institute and the nation.
11. At
the end of the vacation if the hosteller neither returns to the hostel within
two weeks nor seeks permission to join late, his/her claim for the hostel accomodation will be terminated. The room may be alloted to another student.
12.
When he/she vacates the hostels he/she has to give the charge of the same to
the concerned authority. Clearance certificated from the competent authorities
regarding no dues regarding dhobi, mess, PCO, library will be needed before
getting the no-dues from warden of the hostels.
13. The
parents will give the names and passport size photograph of the relatives who
would visit the student. The warden will have right to disallow any visitor.
14.
Mobile phones and valuables kept in the hostel are at students’ own
responsibility and risk and the authorities will not be responsible for any
loss or damage to the same.
DISCIPLINE
1.
Incidences of “Ragging” have to be dealt strictly. It is a punishable crime
and the hostellers must be aware of its serious consequences, if they are
caught in any ragging activities as per the orders of Hon’ble
Supreme Court and the Regulation of UGC.
What
is Zero Tolerance:-
a) To
compel juniors to wear special types of dress/ shoes/ socks, etc.
b) To
force them to bend their heads while walking/ standing.
c) To
compel them to be “clean – shaven”
d) To
make them write and complete journals.
e) To
force them to run ‘errands’ and purchase things from the bazar/ market.
f) To
force them to wear special – coloured button, etc.
g) To
force them to prepare tea / coffee etc for the
seniors.
h) To
compel them to make special type of hair style.
i) To
force them to wear particular type of ribbons and salwar
suits, etc.
j) To
force juniors to come walking to college on bare feet.
k) To
force juniors to come to seniors room / house / some other specific place.
l) To
force juniors to clean hostel rooms, etc.
m) To
tear off anti-ragging posters from the college/ hostel.
n) To
force juniors to dance / sing / act, etc.
o) To
compel juniors to remove/ shed their clothes.
p) To
compel them to consume intoxicant of any kind, like smoke, use drugs or
consume alchohol.
q)
Force them to consume non edible food/ beaverages.
2.
During college hours when hostellers are supposed to attend the lectures,
practical classes, hospital posting, field visit or other assignments they
will not remain in the hostels. Violation of the rule will lead to
disciplinary action.
3.
Defaulters regarding the maintanance of cleanliness
of the room and hostel premises will be fined. Spitting on walls / floors is
for bidden and would invite fine of Rs. 500/-
4.
Hostellers are forbidden to keep and use articles like heaters, immersion
rods, iron, stove, etc. If these articals are found
in the room they will be confiscated and a fine will be imposed for violation
of the rules.
5.
Cooking of any type and ironing of clothes are strictly prohibited in the
room.
6.
Smoking, drinking, use of narcotics and drugs are strictly prohibited.
Violation of the rules will result in expulsion from the hostels.
7. Use
of music system is permitted only if the roommates and neighbours
do not object. Any violation of the rule will lead to confiscation of these equipments for the durations of stay in the hostels.
8.
Hostellers must dine in the mess/ dining hall. They should be in proper
attire and maintain the decorum. Plates etc. should not be carried into the
hostel rooms or elsewhere. Defaulters will be fined.
9.
Girls should not remain outside hostel after 9.00 pm. If because of some
valid reason some girl wants to be away from the hostel after that time she
should get permission from the warden. The application must be endorsed by
local-guardian.
10. A
roll-call will be taken after dinner time at 9.00 pm. And all the students
are required to be present unless prior permission has been granted. At
dinner all the residents must be present. They are expected to maintain an
atmosphere of cordiality and friendliness.
11.
Hostellers will be liable for disciplinary action if he/she causes
disturbance and annoyance to his room mates or neighbours in the hostels.
12. No
hostellers will engage any person for service of any kind. Violation of the
same will lead to disciplinary action
13. The
inmates of the hostel should not normally stay in hostel during college
hours. Hostellers are not allowed to go out of hostels after 9:00 pm. Violation
of the same will lead to disciplinary action.
14.
After 11.00 pm, when the silence bell rings, all the hostellers should be in
their respective rooms. Defaulters in this respect are liable for disciplianry action
VISITORS
a. Day
scholars/ friends / guests / parents are not allowed to stay in the hostel.
b.
Outside the visitors-hours (5.00 pm – 7.00 pm) visitors (day scholars /
friends / guests / parents / guardians / local guardian) are not allowed in
the hostel premises.
c. For male hostellers:
the male visitor can visit the hosteller in the room after permission of the
warden.
d. For female
hostellers: the visitor can visit the hostller in
the ‘visitors’ room or ‘ante room’ in the hostels after the permission of the
warden.
e. The
out station guests may stay in the guest house with advance payment of the
charges. An advance application from the hosteller in this regard is expected
based on which warden will permit the outstation guest in guest house.
However, guests are not allowed during the examination time. Violation of
rules in this regard by the hosteller will lead to disciplinary action. A
fine will be imposed in addition to the guest charges.
f. No
student shall keep any unauthorized person in the room.
ABSENCE
FROM THE HOSTEL
1. If
because of unavoidable reasons the hosteller has to go out of the hostel
he/she has to get prior permission from the warden by a written application
endorsed by his/ her local guardian. The applicant should mention reason for
the absence, period of absence and complete address & contact number
during this period.
2. In
case the hosteller is not able to apply in advance he may take verbal
sanction temporarily but must submit the application specially mentioning the
‘emergency absence’ once he/she returns to the hostel. Of course the
application is to be endorsed by the local guardian.
3. For
the unauthorized absence from the hostel the hosteller is liable to
disciplinary action which may amount to suspension from the hostel and the
institution. Permission for such absence will not be granted by the warden on
phone. A written application from the ‘ward’ is a must addressed to the
warden and duly countersigned by the local guardian. He / she will give
written information of his/her return to the hostel to the warden.
4. When
the students want to go for picnic, etc they should
apply through the warden to the Dean / Principal of the institute. The
application should contain the venue of picnic, date and time, mode of travel
and the names of the participants, his/her their
signature(s) along with the letter of undertaking regarding the resoponsiblity by their respective local guardian.
5. When
students plan for travel in vacation they should not plan to leave the
station before start of the vacation. They will be liable for disciplinary
action. In case of unavoidable reason a prior permission is to be sought from
the warden.
MEDICAL
ILLNESS
1. In
case of illness the hosteller should inform the warden.
2. In case
of serious illness the hosteller will be admitted into the hospital and the
local guardian and parent / guardian will be immediately informed about the well being of the hosteller.
3. No
sick student is allowed to stay in the room without permission.
4. An
appropriate Medical certificate of the duration of illness should be obtained
from the treating physician by the student and submitted to the Dean’s /
Principal’s office for attendance purpose.
PENALTY
AND FINES
1.
Absenting from Hostels without proper permission of the warden 'overnight'
will invite strict disciplinary action and a suitable penalty under
intimation to the local guardian/ parent will be imposed by the authorities.
2.
Taking away food plates and utensils/ tea cups/ mugs/ glasses etc., to the
hostel rooms from the mess dining hall is prohibited. Defaulter students will
be fined Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- depending on the frequency and severity of
offense by the wards.
3.
Making loud noises, creating nuisance inside the campus/ college and hostel
premises is prohibited. Celebrating private parties/ functions, celebrating
birthday at midnight in the campus is also prohibited. Defaulters will be
suitably punished to the extent of suspension and expulsion from the
hostel/college.
4.
Allowing unauthorized guests / day scholars in the hostel room will invite
disciplinary action and a fine of Rs.1000/- may be levied from the hosteller
involved.
5. Use
of electric gadgets inside the hostel is not permitted,
such gadgets will be confiscated by the warden and deposited in the central
stores with provision of a penalty of Rs.750/- for using excess electricity
besides causing fire hazards/ electrocution.
6.
Students especially hostellers will be careful and routinely avoid visiting
the family quarters of staff/ faculty members. Senior hostellers will not
routinely or otherwise use rooms of the junior wards for rest, recreation or
study. Serious view will be taken of such offenders and they will be
subjected to disciplinary action.
7. On
various festivals especially 'Holi" and
'Diwali' wards are found to be indulging in hooliganism and unruly behaviour. Strict disciplinary action by the security
staff and wardens will be taken against such students.
8.
Spoiling walls of rooms / corridors and spitting after chewing pan/gutkas is for bidden a fine of Rs.
500/- will be imposed on defaulters.
You
are Bonafide Student:- Just like the
citizens of our country, each individual has its rights and of course the
duties towards the nation, similarly the day you join SAIMS, you become our bonafide student and you all have rights as well as
duties towards the college. As a bonafide student
of this Institute –
1. You have full rights to explore Library after the
classes.
2. You can utilize common room (Boys’ & Girls’) like
seniors.
3. You should desist from doing any
thing with or against your will, even if ordered by senior students.
4. No senior students can force you to wear any dress
code except when invoked by the Institute, but the dress should be sober and
dignified, so as to maintain the decorum of the Institute.
5. No senior student can use any teasing words or acts or
treat with rudeness, which adversely affects the physique/psyche/mental
health.
6. You can avail all other facilities provided by the Institute
like gymnasium, volley ball ground, etc. jointly with seniors or separately.
We will not leave any stone unturned to curb out the
scourge of ragging, but still if you feel any grievances against any students
or member of the family of SAIMS you are free to put complaints in the
complaint / suggestion boxes affixed at various places. The complaint will
only be entertained if it holds your name.
